That's the year that St Peter's hospital on Brusselsestraat was founded. Sintpetersziekenhuis (or was it St Elizabeth's hospital?) was founded and run by a group of religious women known as the "gasthuiszusters". You will notice the remnant of this hospital to the left of St. Peter's hospital. There is the remaining chapel (entered into through the old Romaansespoort) as well as some remaining structures around to the left side of the chapel where there is a child daycare/activities center, a restaurant and the Wagenhuys. Just pass through the arched gate entrance and have a look around.
